Holds the largest Natural lake in North Carolina, Lake Waccamaw

Columbus county holds the Annual North Carolinia Yam festival, strawberry festival and the Columbus Chorus Christmas Concert.

Its most significant  Geographic feature is Green Swamp, running 15,907 acres along the highway. The swamp holds Venus Fly Traps which are very unique and endangered.
